General overview:

Q4S will develop an online resource that will help disabled learners identify potential barriers to their developing and/or demonstrating core (functional) skills and enable them to plan learning strategies to overcome them.

The resource will offer additional support in related activities such as negotiating the provision of reasonable adjustments and deciding when, and how best, to disclose their disability.

The core parts of the resource will be fully adapted to meet the particular needs of young disabled people, from the equivalents developed for teachers in the QATRAIN projects. The resource will be searchable in terms of ‘functional skills’ and ‘disabilities’, with additional material being transferred and adapted from related projects to ensure that it fully meets the needs of its target users.

Q4S will provide custom-designed resources directly to support young disabled people in overcoming the barriers to learning that arise in mainstream VET and therefore improve their training, outcomes and qualifications. By enabling disabled people to improve their experience of VET, and to achieve results consistent with their abilities and efforts, Q4S will make VET more attractive for this group.
